Pacifico Fiori

Italian author of whom I have been able to find out very little. Wrote one book with a horse theme, which have been translated into English by H. E. Scott. This was originally published in Italy in 1955 and then reprinted in English language in both the UK and the USA. Rather confusingly the English and American editions have different titles, the English one being a more direct translation of the Italian title.

Horse & Pony Books:

aka THE WILD HORSES OF TUSCANY (USA edition)
aka
I RIBELLI DELLA PRATERIA (Original Italian edition)

Not sure of the Italian publisher.
The first English language edition was published in the UK by University of London Press as
Prairie Rebels .Translated into English language by H. E. Scott.
Published in the USA by Franklin Watts in 1960 as
The Wild Horses of Tuscany
EDITIONS PICTURED: UK edition, USA edition.
SUMMARY: Set in Italy during the Second World War. Three young boys, Pippo, Vanni and Bicci, live on a horse breeding farm. They are often getting into trouble but are devoted to three of the colts on the farm. When the German army begin to commandeer horses and take the boys' favourites, the friends steal them back and hide in the woods with them.

Collectors Info:
Although not a particular common title, it can be found without too much trouble in both the UK and the USA. Also presumably in Italy under its original Italian title. Harder to find elsewhere.
